Here Are Some Of My First Watercolor Word-Writings Done In 1989

There came a time when I wanted to both do my artwork and to write and so my Word-Writings were born using pen and watercolor and sometimes pencil, too. This was a period when I was alone at home in northern Virginia when my wife and daughter went to visit her family. I was painting and writing and feeling inspired just as I am these days with seeming no boundaries or lack of inspiration : simply an universal lack of enough time and energy to accomplish it all! I worked often as I still do on " empty " as I like to refer to it. Sometimes the very best I can ever give is produced in this state. Cheers, TONY

The Cars So Vroo Van / Voo Voo Voom Car Ran : William Stanley Hayter - Prints -Four Saturday, June 27th, 2009 Morning Poems Before Work ..

I started here writing a poem with my son in the parking lot of our neighborhood swimming pool. We went to our Saturday meet in a caravan of cars, like old wagon trains ...

Then I switched to writing about the art show of William Stanley Hayter's that I sqw on Father's Day with my two children at the National Gallery of Art last Sunday. I loved it : I worked in William Stanley Hayter's Atelier 17 at 10, Rue Didot bakc in the 14th arrondisement in Paris, France back in 1978-1979.




Here are some of my artist's proofs that I made in color and in black and white ( or just one color ) of the various states of the etched plates. These are not the finished products.

I think this print that I made above here in dark blue ink would have been the etching I made most inspired by Bill's teaching. He liked all these textures and patterns and layers, etcetera. He must have seen it at some point and commented though I don't recall now. I think he would have liked it and had some constructive criticism for me about it. Too bad I do not recollect what he said ...

# 2A Thursday evening leaving work in Washington after having met Ken Forrester for the second time after four years at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits. It was June 11th, 2009 at 7:16 PM on Ponderosa, VA. en voiture. I had been taking a lot of pictures of the setting golden ball all-flame of the sun behind darker, gray clouds : the contrast was quite spectacular. It had been raining and once again there was this unmistakable smell of a man's fresh release as if Nature itself had the same as the smell was intensified a thousand-fold ... I notice it on these dampened, soggy drives home. This is not the first time I have noticed this and of course some of this imagery of Nature, release and seed and vine and grape-ape-rape-gra-gra-grape got into this last poem of mine.

It was great to see you again Ken. Loved your wines today, especially the last sweet Chenin Blanc that sang-purred sweet-nothings into my ear and upon my palate. Cheers, TONY

I had just spoke with my mother and she had been watching the coverage on D-Day's celebration in Normany where President Obama was giving a speech. This had made her remember back in 1974 when my father had gone with my mother to Normandy to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of D-Day. My father was one of the guest speakers that day.

She remembered how beautiful and pristine ( skies so blue, grass so green! ) the day was ; and how impressed she was with my father's speech - that he was a fine speaker in her mind. Cheers, TONY
