After Meeting Jancis Robinson My Thoughts, Feelings, Impressions Keep Morphing, Sorting & Appearing : Cheers & Thanks Jancis 3/13 In Washington D.C. @ Natural History Museum

This is I believe my last poems that I wrote inspired by meeting Jancis Robinson the famous and very influential female British wine-writer that just published with Linda Murphy an important book called AMERICAN WINE. It, along with the William Kaufman book AN ENCYCLOPEDIA TO AMERICAN WINE in 1984 have been very much on my mind. Enjoy, Anthony ( TONY ) Quinn ... ... ... Met Jan Yes Jancis Met / ... My Poem Inspired By Jancis Robinson and What She Means To Me After So Many Years Of Reading Her Writings, Starting In 1992 I Believe? Cheers Jancis : Bravo!

I have been a fan of Jancis Robinson's now for many years. I guess it all started sometime back in 1992 when I started to read some of Jancis' reviews in the Wine Spectator, especially a review on the wines being produced then in the world that were starting to all have a similar taste and profile and less a distinct character of their own and from where they were coming? Do I have this right? I loved that review : it spoke so many volumes to me that I instantly felt like I had a fellow wine personality in the ocean of wines today being made from all over the world that I love because many of them do represent both their grape varieties and suggest from where they come and do not pretend to be other than they are : for better or for worse. I have written Jancis a handwritten letter and that was again years ago. I wanted to let her know that I appreciated that one article and that it had inspired and helped me to be a better wine merchant, educator and what I like to call myself, a better " wine enabler ". Thanks Jancis. Since then I have purchased some of your many books Jancis and have used them over the years as I have been both the Washington D.C. wine retailer and wholesaler, liking better the job of retailer. Both have taught me well and your books have guided me often with specific information that I am or have been unaware of the details? Too much to know, too much to keep track of and keep straight : and that's where your work has been invaluable to me at times over the years. Thanks again. Here is the poem that I wrote the other morning before starting work at Cleveland Park Wines & Spirits selling wines in Washington D.C. in our Cleveland Park Northwest neighborhood. I wrote it March 15th, 2013. I decided to send it to you using Twitter and so you should have over the last two-three days received all of it " in pieces ". I hope that you enjoyed that as I think it broke up your usual routine and helped to make your day a bit brighter and interesting?

I am also really looking forward to meeting you this Thursday evening here in Washington D.C. N.W. through the Smithsonian Associates at the National Museum of Natural History Baird Auditorium, 10th & Constitution Avenue, NW. Here is my poem Jancis : Jancis Robinson .... Looking forward to meeting you soon Jancis. Thanks again for everything. I hope you do not mind the way my mind of an artist/ wine-lover-enabler roams and breaks up words and has my mind so fluid and influenced by the sight, the sound, the similar and the double and the at-odds meanings of words, and the fun at arranging them and trying to get as much from them as I can just as I do when I taste wine and take that serendipitous route of discovering the many nuances of a wines tastes, flavors and personalities. Cheers, Anthony ( TONY ) Quinn
